Holland & Sons Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. St. Elmo Nauman of Franklin United Church of Christ. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wayland Perry, Willie Lee Bradshaw, R.D. Barham, W.T. Pace Jr., Hinton Pope, James Carr, Ryland Duck and Fenton Duck. Howell, 63, died Sunday afternoon on arrival at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin, after a heart attack. He was a farmer and native of Isle of Wight County. He was the husband of Mrs. Nancy Duck Howell and a son of Henry and Mrs. Anna Carr Howell. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church and Woodmen of the World. Besides his widow, surviving are a son, William N. Howell of Carrsville; two daughters, Mrs. Leatha Bradshaw of Windsor and Mrs. Carolyn Griffin of Portsmouth; a sister, Mrs. Florence Drewry of Carrsville; two brothers, P.D. Howell Sr. of Chuckatuck and Clayton Howell of Henderson, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
