HOWELL, DIES FROM OIL EXPLOSION Paul J. Howell, a young lumberman of this section, who was operating a mill near Capron, was burned to death at his mill last night in a shocking accident when he attempted to rekindle a fire in a stove with a can of oil, which was supposed to be kerosene, but from the accounts reaching Franklin must have contained gasoline instead. The can exploded and covered the unfortunate young man with the burning liquid. Rushing from the camp shanty toward the mill, crying for help, he was met by his brother, Claude Howell, who tried in vain to extinguish the flames and was badly burned on both hands in endeavoring to help his brother. The shanty was consumed by the flames following the explosion. The body was brought to Franklin late Thursday night by W.J.M. Holland and prepared for burial which will take place at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with services by G.R. Pankey, pastor of the church. The deceased was a progressive young business man of exemplary habits and many friends wherever he was known. He was a consistent member of Beaver Dam community. He was thirty-three years old, unmarried, and besides his parents is survived by three brothers and one sister and a wide circle of relatives and friends. Paul J.
