HOLT This town and community was greatly shocked Sunday, when they learned of the sudden and unexpected death of Mr. H. Womble Holt, who has for a number of years been the popular purser on the Steamer Hampton Rhoads. Mr. Holt had only been sick for about five days, and no one realized that his condition was so critical until the last minute. He was a fine gentleman, always had a smile and everybody loved him, and when it came to being accommodating there was no one to surpass him. He is survived by his wife, who before her marriage, Miss Maud Grimes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Grimes, with whom she is making her home. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday amid many sorrowing friends and realties, and interment was made in Ivy Hill Cemetery. The floral offering was large and beautiful and was but an emblem of love his many friends had for him. The Times, along with his many other friends, extends to Mrs. Holt its healthful sympathy.
