A native of Nansemond County, she was a member of Windsor Baptist Church and its L.T. Deans Bible Class. She was the widow of James Timothy Holland and a daughter of John W. and Mrs. Martha Archer Stephenson. Surviving are two sons, Earl S. Holland of Clearwater, Florida and J. Henry Holland of Windsor; a brother, J. Sydney Stephenson of Carrsville; and three grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. H.B. Fisher and Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** MRS. BALLIE S. Burial was in the Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, Va. Pallbearers were Ralph Johnson, Everett Griffin, William Earl Wilkins, John W. Underwood, Emory Eley, Rochelle Gardner, J.L. Babb and A. Dunston Johnson. D.Cert. 71-013829 The 1910 Census - Chuckatuck Dist., Nansemond Co. - lists her as Male. Her father was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. A, 19th Battalion VA Heavy Artillery. He was detailed in 1864 as a telegraph operator. Her parents m. 23 Dec 1875. (Nansemond Co. #80) Her mother (May 1851 - 14 Nov 1930) was buried near Windsor.
