HOPE HOLMES HOLLAND

   Mrs. Hope Holmes Holland, wife of Jesse Whitley Holland, died at her home 
in Isle of Wight County Tuesday morning, March 21, after an illness of several 
months.  Mrs. Holland is the daughter of Mrs. Ida Susan Holmes of Savage, and 
the late Joseph S. Holmes of Southampton County; a member of Beaver Dam 
Baptist Church where she served until illness prevented.

   Besides her husband and mother she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W.C.
Wilkins of Windsor, and Mrs. Willie McFatter of Zuni; one foster daughter, 
Mrs. George B. Swain of Norfolk; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W.E. 
Spiers of Savage and one brother, Willie H. Holmes of Kecoughtan.

   Funeral services were conducted at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Thursday 
afternoon, March 23, at 3 o’clock by the Rev. J.T. Garland Moore of Cradock, 
a former pastor.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

   The pallbearers were: W.T. Pace, Jr., Stephen H. Butler, Pressley Butler, 
Leon Outland, C.L. Carr, Taylor Holland, Alfred Johnson and W.E. Spiers.
