All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JESSE WHITNEY HOLLAND Funeral services for Jesse Whitney Holland, 71, who died Wednesday night, February 27, at his home in Carrsville, were conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by Rev. E.C. Thornton, pastor, assisted by Rev. G.C. Crutchfield, pastor of Mt. Carmel Christian Church and Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church. Mr. Holland, prominent farmer and lifelong resident of Carrsville, was the husband of Mrs. Bertha Roberts Holland of Carrsville and the son of the late Meredith David [sic; Dawson] and Virginia Holland of Nansemond County. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and its Men's Bible Class. He was also a member of the Woodman of the World of Walters. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W.C. Wilkins of Windsor and Mrs. William M. McFetter of Holland; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. J.W. Bridgers of Suffolk, and a number of nieces and nephews. Burial was in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were Jasper Holland, Taylor Holland, James Holland, Jobie Holland, Rufus Darden, Goldie Darden, Howard Beale and Robert Ellis.
