All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOHN ALLEN HOLLAND John Allen "Addie" Holland, 69, residing at Walters, died Saturday afternoon, March 10, at Raiford Memorial Hospital after an illness of a few weeks. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Allen Keaton Fowler Holland of Isle of Wight County, and the husband of Mrs. Bessie Duke Holland of Walters. A member of the Colosse Baptist Church, he was an employee of the State Highway Department. Surviving him besides his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Ellinor Carr of Norfolk, and Mrs. J.W. Stephens and Mrs. Melvin Spivey of Walters; two sons, Raby Holland of Carrsville and Clifford Holland of Holland; eight grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Fenton Bryant of the Black Creek community; and several nieces and nephews. Last rites were held at the Colosse Baptist Church on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, with Rev. Jack Boyles, Harry L. foster and Ellis Clarke officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, the active pallbearers being Jasper Carr, Leon Carr, Lloyd Duck, Edward Griffin, Wilson Holland, Dr. J.W. Lambdin, Alton Spivey and Tom Stephens.
