Holland, aged 66 years, of Zuni died suddenly on Sunday, June 29, in the office of Dr. E.M. Babb at Ivor, where she had just arrived for treatment. A native of Maryland, Mrs. Holland moved to the Zuni section shortly after her first marriage. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Congregational Christian Church, near Walters. She is survived by her second husband, J.H. Holland, of Zuni; five sons by her first husband; sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The surviving sons are Lee and Norman Phippins of Windsor, Sherman and Ray Phippins of Franklin, and James Phippins of Smithfield. Funeral services for Mrs. Holland were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Mt. Carmel Church, with interment following in the church cemetery. Rosa L. DE (Millsboro & Georgetown, respectively). (Ancestry.com & FamilySearch.org) However, Lee Jr.'s family usually appear PHIPPINS. Norman's obit ("Tidewater News," Mar. 10, 1980, p. 8) & Death Certificate (#80-008319) give PIPPINS. He is buried in Colosse Baptist Ch. Cemetery. James' and Sherman's death certificates also give PIPPINS. Her second husband, George Allen HEDGEPETH, (1 Jan 1870 - 28 Mar 1937), son of George Isaac & Edith (REDD) HEDGEPETH, was buried in a family cemetery. (D.Cert. 7537 {Hardy #3}) Her third husband, James Henry HOLLAND, (3 Oct 1891 - 24 May 1968), son of Thos. Walter & Susanna (POWELL) HOLLAND, is buried with his parents in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery, near Windsor.
