Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Joseph L. McTeer of Colosse Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Leon Alphin, Frank Johnson, Taylor Holland, Delman Carr, Jasper Carr, Edwin Beale, Edward Lankford and Esmond Ellis. Hines, 73, a retired Isle of Wight farmer, died early Monday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mary G. Redd. He was the husband of Mrs. Mattie Crocker Hines and son of John E. and Mrs. Martha Thorne Hines of Isle of Wight County. He was a member of Colosse Baptist Church and its Men’s Bible Class, and Woodmen of the World Lodge. Besides his widow and Mrs. Redd, surviving are two sons, Elbert Richard Hines of Richmond and Floyd Garris of Windsor; two other daughters, Mrs. Mildred Avis and Mrs. Margaret Rhodes of Carrsville; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
