Hines RESCUE - Ernest Franklin Hines, 87, died Monday in Riverside Hospital. Born in Isle of Wight County, he was a retired waterman. He was a member of Friends Church where he had been a Sunday School superintendant for 42 years. He was also a member of the Men's Bible Class at Battery Park Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Selma Carroll Hines; three daughters, Mrs. Clestia May Minga and Mrs. Laura Lee Stanley, both of Rescue, and Mrs. Dora D. Powell of Smithfield; a son, Ernest M. Hines, and a stepson, Linwood Hundley, both of Rescue; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Colonial Funeral Home by the Rev. Carl E. Cuthrell and the Rev. Franklin Jones Jr. Burial will be in St. Luke's Memorial Park. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Isle of Wight Rescue Squad. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends there.
