She was a native of Windsor. Surviving are two sisters, Miss Mary Ella Crumpler and Mrs. Anna Gardner, both of 187 Ronald Road, Norfolk. The body was taken to the Jones Funeral Home in Smithfield. A funeral service was conducted by the Rev. L.R. Nease Jr., pastor of Woodland Methodist Church September 22nd in Whitehead's Grove Baptist Church in Isle of Wight County. A photo of it - added by Hixburg23958 - is posted with Find a Grave Memorial #174160379, which lists her as Wirtley. D.Cert. 22394 (Newport News #758) gives widow of Elonzo HINES; daughter of William Joseph [Joe] & Nancy [Nannie] (PRUDEN) CRUMPLER. Some records give as Wortley. She 1m. widower Bennett [Benjamin] Fenton BROCK, son of Joel David & Mary (WILLIAMS) BROCK, 18 Feb 1909 in Isle of Wight Co. He was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. F, 9th VA Infantry, although he volunatarily surrendered, and was pardoned by Lincoln in Aug 1864. Born 23 Sep 1837, he shot himself 1 Apr 1916, and was buried at Whitehead's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, apparently unmarked- not on IWCHS GSSTF #73. Widowed, she 2m. widower Samuel Alonzo HINES 19 Jun 1920 in Isle of Wight Co., and they div. in 1929. He (1860 - 1937) is buried with his first wife in Riverview Methodist Church Cemetery, near Rescue. {IWCHS GSSTF #21} Her mother d. 3 Dec 1935 and was buried in a family cemetery at the residence, near Smithfield.
