All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MATTHEW THOMAS HARRIS Matthew Thomas Harris, 75, a resident of the Zuni community for many years, died at the residence Friday afternoon, August 20, after a long sickness. Mr. Harris was for a number of years pump house engineer for the Norfolk & Western Railway, retiring sometime ago on account of ill health. He was a native of Isle of Wight County and in 1907 married Miss Lizzie Bowden, who survives. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Uroy Winstead Harris of Newport News; three daughters, Miss Eva Maie Harris of Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. Ernest L. Wellons of Zuni, and Mrs. Charles J. Brown of Newport News; and three grandchildren and two nieces. Funeral services for Mr. Harris were held at three o'clock on Sunday afternoon at the grave in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, near Walters.
