Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. J. Walter Martin of Temple Baptist Church, Newport News. Burial was in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were G.G. Ballard, Loftin Rhodes, Georgia Bowden, Palmer Spivey, Archie Spivey and Grafton Spivey. Harcum, 74, a retired employee of Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey, died Friday morning in a Newport News hospital. He was the husband of Mrs. Erma Redd Harcum and a son of William B. [sic; [T.*] and Mrs. Addie Vaughan Harcum. A native of Southampton County, he was a member of Colosse Baptist Church and Retired Men's Club of Standard Oil Co. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dolly Mt. Castle [sic; Mountcastle] of Newport News; five brothers, Emory Harcum, Otto Harcum and J.B. Harcum of Franklin, Otis Harcum of Virginia Beach, and the Rev. Fred Harcum of Lebanon, Va., a sister, Mrs. R.L. Boone of Portsmouth; and three grandchildren.
