His death, though not unexpected, came as a great shock to his family and to the host of his friends. Mr. Hart was one of the most active and useful members of Central Hill Baptist Church, Isle of Wight County. He became a professing Christian in early life, and of him it may truly be said that Christianity meant living in following with Christ by service to others. He was devoted to his church, being ever prompt in attendance and always ready to extend a welcoming hand to his fellow members. But it was in the home that he shone the brightest. He was a devoted husband and brother. His greatest pleasure consisted in caring for and helping others. His was a truly unselfish life. Those of the immediate family left with his widow to mourn their loss are five sisters, two brothers, and many relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.W. Simmons, of Mill Swamp Baptist Church, interment being in the cemetery at Central Hill Church.
