He was a native of Northampton County, N.C. He had retired as a farmer. He attended Liberty Baptist Church in Suffolk. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Rae Harrell; a daughter, Virginia Gibson of Smithfield; three sons, Harvey Lee Harrell of Scotland Neck, N.C., Ronald Wayne Harrell of Suffolk and Jimmy Ray Harrell of Barboursville; 27 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Revs. Byron McCreay and T.A. Powell. Burial will be in St. Luke's Memorial Cemetery in Smithfield. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and at the home of Virginia Gibson, Rt. 10, Smithfield. His father (1872 - 1968) is buried in St. Francis Methodist Church Cemetery, Lewiston-Woodville, Bertie Co., NC. His step-mother Mary Catherine (HARRELL) HARRELL (1875 - 1940) was buried 1 Jan 1941 in the Smith Cemetery [likely Bertie Co., NC].
