Flet Hearn Dies Saturday 

  SMITHFIELD - Lafayette Washington (Flet) Hearn, retired businessman of 
Hampton died Saturday afternoon in Dixie Hospital, Hampton following a short 
illness. 

  He was a native of Isle of Wight County and had lived in Hampton the past 12 
years.  He was a member of Uzzells Methodist Church and formerly chairman of 
the Board of Supervisors of Isle of Wight County. 

  He was a son of Martin W. and Mrs. Lula Workman Hearn.  Surviving are his 
wife, Kathryn Burgess Hearn; two sons, L. W. Hearn Jr., of Rosamount, 
California and Jarvis M. Hearn of Hampton; a stepson, Dr. J.R. Burgess of 
Rockingham, N.C. and a stepdaughter, Mrs. H.R. Parrish of Hampton. 

  Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home 
with burial in the Uzzells Church Cemetery.
