SAMUEL LLOYD HORNE

LLOYD HORN TAKEN BY DEATH LAST WEEK

   Lloyd Horn [sic; Horne], one of Isle of Wight's oldest citizens, died at 
his home near Long View Monday night, December 21 [sic]*, after a short 
period of illness. 

   Funeral services were held the following Wednesday at Whitehead's Grove 
Church.  Interment in the church cemetery.

   Mr. Horn was a deacon of the church. 

    SAMUEL LLOYD HORNE

  Samuel Lloyd Horne was born August 22, 1863, died December 21, 1931. aged 68 
years, 4 months. 

  His parents were regular members of the Whitehead's Grove Baptist Church. 
Of a large family of brothers and sisters, he was the only one to join this 
church.  He was baptised by Dr. J.F. Deans. September 3, 1889, 42 years, 
three months and 18 days ago.  He was active in church and Sunday school work 
for the past twenty-five years.  He was Sunday school treasurer and assistant 
superintendent and led in prayer meetings.  Was church treasurer for eight 
years, 1920 to 1928; elected deacon December, 1914, and filled this office 
until his death. 

  He was loved and honored by the church he loved.  The Lord gave and the Lord 
has taken away.  Blessed be the name of the Lord. 
        ONE WHO LOVED HIM. 

  Funeral conducted by Rev. T.W. Page, December 23, a.m., at Whitehead's 
Grove.  Burial was in the church cemetery.
