Horne, 46 years of age, wife of L.H. Horne, died at 5:30 a.m. today, at a local hospital following a long illness. The body was removed to the funeral home of I.O. Hill and Company where it will remain until 1:45 p.m., Thursday, at which time the procession will leave for Antioch Christian Church where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 by the Rev. Fred T. Wright and Dr. John G. Truitt. Interment will be in the Antioch Church Cemetery. Mrs. Horne is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Herman Bowen, Wakefield; Mrs. Gilmer Ellis, Suffolk; a son, Corp. Louis E. Boyette, U.S. Army, Columbia, S.C.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Margaret Raines, Waynesboro; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. S.J. Pruett, Suffolk; Mrs. L.T. Thorne, Franklin; Mrs. H.T. Thorne, Smithfield; Mrs. R.H. Dickerson, Windsor; four brothers, Solomon, Willie and Lee Bowden, Suffolk; and Frank Bowden, Richmond; a number of nieces and nephews. ****************************************************************************** Horne Funeral is Held at Antioch Funeral services for Mrs. Mollie L. Horne were conducted yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Antioch Christian Church by Rev. Fred T. Wright, assisted by Dr. J.G. Truitt. The casket was covered with a pall of fern and pink and white carnations. The church choir sang "Sweet Bye and Bye," accompanied by Mrs. E.R. Nelms. "Life's Railway to Heaven" was sung by Mrs. H.E. Pierce, and "Meet Me There," a duet, by Mrs. H.E. Pierce and Rev. T. Fred Wright. Active pallbearers were James R. Horne, Elton Horne, Rossie McClenny, Clyde Johnson, Ocie Powell, and Lee Bowden, Jr. Honorary were friends of the family. Boyette, U.S. Army, stationed at Columbia, S.C.; two grandchildren; four brothers, Solomon, William and Lee Bowden of Suffolk; Frank Bowden of Richmond; four sisters, Mrs. S.J. Pruitt of Suffolk; Mrs. L.T. Thorne of Franklin; Mrs. H.T. Thomas of Smithfield; Mrs. R.H. Dickerson of Windsor; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Margaret Raines of Waynesboro. Funeral services were conducted at Antioch Christian Church on Thursday at 2:30 PM by the pastor, the Rev. T. Fred Wright and Dr. John G. Truitt, pastor of Suffolk Christian Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Southampton Co. Her parents, Jas. Richard & "Jennie" Virginia Alice Louise (BRADSHAW) BOWDEN, are likely buried unmarked in the BOWDEN family cemetery on Sandpit Rd. Her brother Solomon Richard BOWDEN (1893 - 1946) & family are buried there, and there are at least 15 unmarked graves. {IWCHS GSSTF report #105} She was the second wife of Letcher H. HORNE. His middle name appears variously - Hinton, Hampton, Hunton, Hinter, &c.
