Dennis Jones Dead at 63 

  Dennis M. Jones, 63, of Route 3, Smithfield, died Tuesday afternoon in 
Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk. 

  A native of Southampton County, he was Smithfield chief of Police for 14 
years and later deputy sheriff of Isle of Wight County, from which he retired. 

  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Sadie Luter Jones of Smithfield; a 
daughter, Mrs. Gloria Cooke of Hernando, Miss.; a stepson, Ted Howell of Eure, 
N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Violet Lowe of Zuni, Mrs. Ruth Lowe of Wakefield, 
and Mrs. Evelyn Berryman of Elberon; and three grandchildren.

  A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home 
by the Rev. Horace Jones.  Burial will be in St. Luke's Memorial Cemetery.
