EDWIN C. JONES 

SMITHFIELD - Edwin C. Jones, 81, died Thursday morning in Mary Immaculate 
Hospital, Newport News, after a short illness.

  A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Norville 
Paul Jones.  He was retired from Gwaltney Packing Co. and a member of 
Trinity Methodist Church and its Wesley Bible Class.

  He was the husband of the late Mrs. Annie Maud Jones.

  Surviving are three sons, Norville Lee Jones of Denver, Maurice W. Jones 
of Smithfield and Edwin C. Jones Jr. of Virginia Beach and Thomas W. Jones 
of Smithfield; and four grandchildren.

  A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Luke's Memorial 
Cemetery by the Rev. Fred Wyand of Trinity Methodist Church.  The precession 
will leave Colonial Funeral Home at 1:45 p.m. Saturday.
