A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Ida Bell Crocker Jones and the son of the late Wilson B. and Indiana Barlow Jones. A retired farmer, he was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Suffolk, where he taught the Adult Bible Class. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Claudette J. Slye, Mrs. Oliver Atkins Sr., both of Windsor; three sons, David L. Jones, Windsor, Pete B. Jones of Smithfield, and Fenton L. Jones Jr. of Gastonia, N. C.; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Hundley, Mrs. George P. Ilish, both of Hampton; one brother, Horace B. Jones, Culpeper; 22 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home in Smithfield by the Rev. Lyle Showers and the Rev. Curtis J. Grant. Interment was in Mill Swamp Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers were Gerald Slye, Richard Atkins, C. David Jones, Ronald L. Jones, Forest Jones and Jesse Atkins.
