JAMES HARDY JONES 

        JAMES W. JONES [sic] 

   James W. Jones, 77, prominent farmer of Isle of Wight County died Thursday 
morning at 2:30 at his home near Windsor.  Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. 
Martha Reynolds Jones; three sons Edward of Roduco, N.C., J.W. of Hampton, 
and T.J. [sic; T.L.*] Jones of Windsor; one daughter, Mrs. E.E. Forehand of 
Hopewell; twenty-three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

   Active pallbearers were Hiram Gardner, Howard Johnson, W.T. Joyner, James 
Whitley, J.L. Babb, Tom Rountree, Charles Boyette, and A.W. Liverman.  Friends 
of the family served as honorary pallbearers.

Birthdate &c. from D.Cert. 20313 (Windsor #10), which also gives James W., 
   sn/o Warren & Elizabeth (Manning) Jones, all b. North Carlino; h/o Martha 
   M. (Renolds). 

His son Thomas Lee's D.Cert. (1963-2485) gives sn/o James Hardy Jones & 
   Margaret Lasater.  Thomas is buried in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.

His son Edward's D.Cert. (11421) gives sn/o James Horton Jones & Margaret 
   Lassiter.  Edward is also buried at Oakland. 

Their mother, James' first wife Margaret O. (LASSITER) JONES {1864-1919}, 
   is buried in a PIERCE/PEARCE family cemetery, Drum Hill, Gates Co., NC.

James 2m. Martha A. (TURNER; wid/o Robert H.) REYNOLDS {1871-1966}, 
   17 Feb 1920 in Isle of Wight Co.  All three are buried at Oakland.
