MARTHA MISSOURI STRINGFIELD JONES 

  Martha Stringfield Jones, 87, of Route 1, died April 13, 1990, in her home.

  Mrs. Jones, a native of Isle of Wight County, was the widow of Sam L. Jones 
Sr.  She was a member of Pine Grove Assembly of God.

  Survivors include two sons, Sam L. Jones Jr. of Zuni and James W. Jones of 
Windsor; eight daughters, Elizabeth Gray of Sedley, Sallie Brand and Alice 
Adams, both of Newport News, Pearl Raiford of Ivor, Martha R. Wells of 
Smithfield, Mary F. Barham of Zuni, Jean Stephenson of Suffolk and Betty Ann 
Cofer of Dendron; two sisters, Lillie Mae Peden and Josie Nurney, both of 
Smithfield; 27 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-
grandchildren.

  The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Purviance Funeral Home, 
Wakefield, by the Rev. Herbert Bowman.  Burial will be in Central Hill Baptist 
Church Cemetery, Smithfield.  Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. 
Sunday in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
