RUTH BATTEN JONES

   SMITHFIELD - Funeral services for Ruth Batten Jones, 87, were held Friday 
in Bethany United Methodist Church by the Rev. James O. Brooks.  Burial was in 
Bethany Church cemetery with Colonial Funeral Home in charge.

   Jones died Tuesday in her home.

   She was a native of Isle of Wight County and the widow of Maurice Ray 
Jones.  She was member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the Ladies Bible 
Class and Bethany Homemakers.

   Survivors include a son, Thomas Ray Jones of Smithfield; a daughter, Mrs. 
Delilah J. Doggett of Smithfield; a brother, H. Taylor Batten, also of 
Smithfield; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
