Hill & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. W.F. McMahan. Burial was in St. Luke’s Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas F. Jones, Charles Vellins, Martin J. Vellines, James White, Sheppard White, George T. White Sr., George T. White, Jr., and Charlie Thompson. Jones, 70, died Thursday at 2:20 p.m. in his home after a brief illness. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a retired farmer. He was a member of Isle of Wight Christian Church. He was the husband of Mrs. Laura Vellines Jones and a son of George F. and Mrs. Hattie Delk Jones. Besides his widow, surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Howard Nelms of Nansemond County, Mrs. John Appell of Surry, and Mrs. Mary Virginia Eure of Smithfield; and four brothers, Nick Jones of Surry, Andrew Jones of Hampton, and Jesse Jones and James Jones of Smithfield.
