Holland & Sons Funeral Home. Burial was in Colosse Church cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Stephens, Howard Story, Robert E. Rhodes, Charles Redd, Olin Necessary and Tom L. Stephenson. Johnson, 73, died in his home Saturday night. A native of Isle of Wight County*, he was a retired farmer. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Carrie Spivey Johnson and a son of Frank and Mrs. Maggie Johnson. He was a Mormon. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Nellie Britt of Carrsville, Mrs. Bertha Smith, and Mrs. Edna Story of Handsom; a son, Robert Earl Johnson of Carrsville; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Brewer of Emporia; 10 grandchildren; and a great grandchild. His mother is buried in a JOHNSON family cemetery, on Trinity Church Rd. The site was damaged by logging; International Paper provided a new stone, stating Magdelene Johnson family. His mother appears with 2 children, Lula & James, & her parents, R[ichard] T. & Fannie [POND] JOHNSON in the 1880 Census (B&I, So.Co.). Her son James Franklin JOHNSON's D.Cert. gives 1879-1952, s/o Frank Maggie JOHNSON. He is buried in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
