All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ RAY CARTHARAGE JOHNSON Ray Cartharage (Carly) [sic; (Cottie)] Johnson, 46, a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, died suddenly early Monday morning, October 15, after suffering ill health for many months. He was the husband of Mrs. Anne Dixon Johnson of Franklin and the son of J. Goode and Mrs. Cora Spivey Johnson of Carrsville. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He was employed in construction work by S.L. Kea and Sons of Ivor. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Earla Johnson Stephenson and Miss Cora Anne Johnson, both of Franklin; two brothers, J. Felton Johnson of Franklin and Raymond Johnson of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. Olive J. Gourley of Norfolk and Mrs. Ida Virginia Johnson Dixon of Carrsville, and two nephews. Graveside services were held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. E.C. Thornton, pastor, and Rev. Clyde Fields, pastor of Hunterdale Congregational Christian Church, officiating. Active pallbearers were J.R. Howell, N.E. Stephenson, Elliott Johnson, John Edward Rose, Dunston Johnson, Leigh Johnson, Clifton Carr and James A. Carr. Ray Cartharage "Cottie" JOHNSON, S.L.
