JOHN GOODE JOHNSON 

   CARRSVILLE - John Goode Johnson, 87, died here Wednesday morning after a 
long illness.  He was a son of James W. and Mrs. Margaret Ann West Johnson 
of Isle of Wight County and the husband of Mrs. Cora Spivey Johnson.

   A lifelong resident of Carrsville, he was a senior deacon of Beaver Dam 
Baptist Church.  He was a charter member of Carrsville Ruritan Club.

   Surviving besides his widow are two sons, J. Felton Johnson of Franklin 
and Raymond Johnson of Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. Olive J. Gourley of 
Norfolk and Mrs. Ida Virginia J. Dixon of Carrsville; a brother, Jesse F. 
Johnson of Carrsville; three grandsons; two granddaughters; and a great-
grandson.

   A funeral service was conducted Friday at 4 p.m. in Beaver Dam Baptist 
Church by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr. and Rev. Donald E. Trump of Colosse 
Baptist Church.  Burial was in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery.

   Active pallbearers were Cecil L. Miles, Dr. C.C. Crossland, W.T. Winborne, 
J.C. Rose, Jr., J.E. Rose, Jr., A.R. Butler, Jr., Claude Hedgepeth and Emmitt 
Rawls.
