All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARTHA LUCY JOHNSON Miss Martha Lucy Johnson, 83, resident of Franklin for the past few years and formerly of Carrsville, died early Monday morning, September 19, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Jachin Forbes, on North High Street. She was the daughter of the late George W. and Margaret Carson Johnson, and was one of the oldest members of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. R.E.L. Kyle and Mrs. Jachin Forbes, both of Franklin, and Mrs. J.R. Bracey of Carrsville. Funeral services were conducted at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Edwin C. Thorton, pastor, assisted by Rev. N.C. Clifton, of Lynchburg, former pastor, and Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were Lawrence Johnson, Carl Steinhardt, William H. Howell, Jr., William Rose, John F. Duke, Jr., J.D. Wright, Emmett Rawles and Jarvis Howell.
