JOYNER JOHNSON Mrs. Johnson Dies Thursday FRANKLIN - Funeral services for Mrs. Otelia Joyner Johnson will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Christian Church by the Rev. John Gibbs, pastor, and the Rev. Donald E. Trump, pastor of Colosse Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson, 65, [died] Thursday night at Obici Memorial Hospital Suffolk, after a long illness. She was the wife of Frank H. Johnson and a daughter of James E.T. and Mrs. Laura Butler Joyner of Isle of Wight County. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church, member of the Woman’s Missionary Society and president of the Walters Woman's Club and the Green Thumb Garden Club. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Lt. Col. James Morgan Johnson of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; four daughters, Mrs. Anthony M. Daman of Norfolk, Mrs. Edwin J. May of Durham, N.C., Mrs. Fred R. Johnson of Zuni, and Mrs. J. Massey Seay Jr. of Richmond; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. J.W. Jenning of Norfolk, and one brother, Otis Joyner of Walters. ****************************************************************************** OTELIA H. JOYNER JOHNSON WALTERS - Mrs. Otelia Joyner Johnson, 65, died Thursday night at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of Frank H. Johnson and the daughter of the late James E.T. and Mrs. Laura Butler Joyner of Isle of Wight County. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church, president of the Woman’s Missionary Society, a member of the Walter’s Woman’s Club and the Green Thumb Garden Club. Besides her husband she survived by one son, Lt. Col. James Morgan Johnson of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; four daughters, Mrs. Anthony M. Daman of Norfolk, Mrs. Edwin J. May of Durham, Mrs. Fred R. Johnson of Zuni and Mrs. J. Carmel Christian Church by the pastor, the Rev. John Gibbs, and the Rev. Donald E. Trump, pastor of the Colosse Baptist church. Interment was in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edwin Deale, Charles Redd, A.L. Duck, Jr., Jasper Carr, Julian Carr, J.L. Rose, Dr. Irvin Ivan Steele and Loftin Rhodes.
