Wood of Amelia, Va. He was the son of the late William P. and Martha Pruden Joyner of Isle of Wight County, and had made his home in Southampton County for more than fifty years. For thirty-five years he was a deacon in the Ivor Christian Church and when this church closed he transferred his membership to the Ivor Methodist Church, of which he was a member until time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Underwood Joyner; five daughters: Mrs. W.B. Smith of Ivor, Mrs. E.L. Wood of Amelia, Mrs. Frank W. Hudson of Gates, N.C., Mrs. L.D. Martin of Gadsden, Ala., Mrs. James F. Boone of Suffolk. Funeral services were conducted at the Ivor Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock by a former pastor, Rev. G.C. Crutchfield of Burlington, N.C., assisted by J.L. Blankenship, Jr., pastor of the Ivor Methodist Church. Pallbearers were W.C. Rawls, Edward Stephenson, E.H. Nirbergall, Douglas Pulley and F.T. Joyner. Interment was made in Antioch Cemetery, Isle of Wight County.
