Joyner had retired from farming. He was a deacon of Bethany Presbyterian Church. He was a charter member of Zuni Ruritan Club, with 34 years of perfect attendance, and a charter member of the Zuni Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Minga Joyner; a daughter, Jean J. Fortune of Richmond; two sisters, Mary J. Bradshaw of Suffolk and Louise J. Maynard of Richmond; four brothers, Walter Raleigh Joyner of Zuni, J. Goode Joyner of Windsor, Sidney A. Joyner of Texas and Russell L. Joyner of Seaford; a grandchild and a great-grandchild. The funeral will be conducted today at 2:30 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. Steven N. Weed. Burial will be in St. Luke's Cemetery, Smithfield. Memorial donations may be sent to the Ivor Rescue Squad or to Bethany Presbyterian Church. ****************************************************************************** Elton L. Joyner ZUNI - Elton Lee Joyner, 73, died Monday, Jan. 9, at Louise Obici Hospital. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the husband of Margaret Minga Joyner. He was a retired farmer and Deacon and member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Zuni. He was a charter member with 34 years perfect attendance in the Zuni Ruritan Club; charter member of the Zuni Hunt Club. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jean J. Fortune of Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. Mary J. Bradshaw of Suffolk, and Laurie J. Maynard of Richmond; four brothers, Walter R. Joyner of Zuni, J. Goode Joyner of Windsor, Sidney A. Joyner of Texas and Russell L. Joyner of Seaford; a grandaughter and a great grandchild. Funeral services were at Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, Wed., Jan. 11, with the Rev. Steven Weed officiated. Burial was in St. Luke's Cemetery, Smithfield. Memorials were suggested to the Ivor Rescue Squad or the Bethany Presbyterian Church at Zuni.
