OTIS VERNON JOYNER

   Walters - A funeral service for Otis Vernon Joyner was conducted Sunday at 
3:30 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. R.E. 
Brittle. Burial was in Holly Lawn, Suffolk.

   Pallbearers were John Jennings, Roland Lewis, Stanley Lewis Morgan Johnson, 
Eley Heffington, Joyner Heffington, Jimmy Joyner, and Fred John Johnson.

   Joyner, 76, died Friday afternoon in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

   A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a son of James E.T. and Mrs. Laura 
Butler Joyner and the husband of Mrs. Eunice Gay Joyner.

   He was a deacon of Mt. Carmel Christian Church, and a former Sunday school 
superintendent and teacher.  He was a veteran of World War I and a member of 
Woodmen of the World Lodge 186 and Ruritan Club.

   Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Otis V. Joyner Jr. of 
Winchester; a sister, Mrs. J.W. Jennings of Brookneal; and two grandchildren.
