Joyner, 82, widow* of Richard H. Joyner of Walters, died Monday afternoon, April 3, at the home of her son, Clifton H. Joyner, rural mail carrier of Carrsville, after an illness of a few weeks. Mrs. Joyner was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Emmaline Hedgepeth** Holland of Nansemond County, and was the oldest member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church, near Walters. Besides her son she is survived by eight sisters, Mrs. S.T. Carr of Walters, Mrs. J.R. Cox, Mrs. H.C. Jernigan and Mrs. Emma Hines of Suffolk, Mrs. Tena Carr and Mrs. Daisy Carr of Carrsville, and Mrs. Bertha Copeland and Mrs. Vernon Butler of Buckhorn; a brother, J.R. Holland of Suffolk; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Joyner were held from the home of her son at 2:30 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Ellis Clark officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Church cemetery. The pallbearers were Alvin Carr, Bonnie Cox, Julian Carr, Lonnie Carr, Jasper Carr, Otis Joyner, Wilson Holland and Leonard Cox. Sarah A. "Sallie" (HOLLAND; Mrs. Richard H.)
