Joyner Succumbs at Zuni ZUNI - Walter Jasper Joyner, 75, retired farmer and lifelong resident of Zuni, died yesterday at noon at his home in Zuni after a long illness. He died on his 55th wedding anniversary. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Murray Page, supply pastor, and the Rev. J.W. Horne, pastor of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. The body will be taken from the Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, to the Church two hours prior to the funeral services. A member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, he was the son of the late Jethro Thomas and Josephine Elizabeth Daughtrey Joyner of Isle of Wight County. He also was a member of the Blackwater Lodge No. 134 AF and AM. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie May Tomlin Joyner of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Alice Bradshaw of Suffolk and Mrs. Betty Louise Maynard of Richmond; five sons, Walter R. Joyner, Elton L. Joyner and Jethro Goode Joyner of Zuni; Sidney A. Joyner of Odenton, Md., and Livy R. Joyner of Seaford, Va.; five sisters, Mrs. Etta Carr Holland and Mrs. J.E. Cones of Suffolk; Mrs. Hester J. Chapman of Ivor; Mrs. Willie Fleecy Carter of Roanoke and Mrs. Ocie E. Bradshaw ot Zuni; 12 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
