He was visiting at the time. A native of Zuni, he was a retired life insurance agent. He was a resident patient at Kecoughtan Veterans Hospital the last five years. He was the son of Clarence C. and Mrs. Mary Corbett Joyner and widower of Mrs. Effie Carr Joyner. He was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War I. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. S.A. Mobley of Norfolk; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Earl J. Taylor of Suffolk; two brothers, Ben C. Joyner of Zuni and Charles Edward Joyner of Roanoke; and five grandchildren. A funeral service was held in Purviance Funeral Chapter, Wakefield, Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. J.W. Horne, pastor of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery near Windsor. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Woodrow Harris, James Ellis, Robert Ellis, Robert M. Ellis, Albert Francis, Clifton Francis, Marshall DeBerry, Gary Pittman and Paul Pittman, Jr., all nephews of the deceased.
