ROWLAND LEWIS ZUNI - A funeral service for E. Rowland Lewis, 62, was held Friday at 2 p.m. in Bethany Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Steven N. Weed. Burial with Masonic rites was in Mount Carmel Church Cemetery, with Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield in charge. Lewis died Wednesday in a hospital. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the husband of Vivian L. Lewis. He was a member and elder of Bethany Presbyterian Church, where he founded and taught the men's Bible class for 34 years. He retired in 1977 after 35 years as a rural letter carrier. He was owner and operator of Windsor Radio and TV Shop until 1978 and was a member of the Virginia Electronic Association. A World War II Army veteran, he served with the 22nd Infantry Division in Europe and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a past commander of Windsor American Legion Post, a past master of Blackwater Lodge No. 134 A.F.& A.M. a former member of the Smithfield chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, a charter member and past president of Zuni Ruritan Club and a past president of the Isle of Wight county chapter of the American Cancer Society. Other survivors include two daughters, Sherilyn L. Leath of Marietta, Ga., and Nancy Rowland Lewis of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mary L. Bowden of Zuni; a brother-in-law, Harry C. Carr of Windsor; and two grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church. E.
