He was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, a son of Jesse and Mrs. Louisa Bracey Lankford. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and veteran of World War I. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Leona Howell Lankford; a brother, Jesse B. Lankford of Smithfield; and a sister, Mrs. J.R. Howell of Franklin. A funeral service was conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, Jr., pastor. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Joel C. Bradshaw, Jr., R.E. Parker, Edward Lankford, James West, James P. Lankford, Jr., Dr. C.C. Crossland, Sol Rose and Shepherd Johnson.
