JAMES HAMLIN McENERNEY 

J.H. McNURNEY [sic; McENERNEY] 

  Mr. J.H. McNurney died Tuesday night, June 30th at 12 o'clock at the home 
of his son J.T. McNurney at Smithfield after a brief illness. 

  He was 69 years old and a native of Surry.

  He is survived by Six daughters: Mrs. Lena Christian, of Richmond; Mrs. 
N.S. Nurney of Alquippa, Pa.; Mrs. Nick Pitman of Marion, S.C.; Mrs. T. 
Falkner of Henderson, N.C.; Miss Virginia Dare McNurney, of Elberon; Mrs. 
Madeline Hargrave of Smithfield; and three sons: J.W. McNurney and A.R. 
McNurney of Richmond and J.T. McNurney of Smithfield. 

  He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren.

  Funeral arrangements had not been made up to the time the paper went to 
press.

FUNERAL RITES FOR MR. J.H. McENERNEY HELD 

  Funeral rites for J.H. McEnerney of Surry, were held July 2nd, in the 
afternoon at the graveside in Mill Swamp cemetery by the Rev. Mr. Wry, 
pastor of Mills Swamp church.  Mr. McEnerney's death occurred Tuesday night 
at Smithfield.

  Surviving him are six daughters - Mrs. Lena Christian of Richmond; Mrs. 
W.S. Nurney of Alquippa, Pa.; Mrs. George Pittman of Norfolk; Mrs. T.G. 
Faulkner of Henderson, N.C., Mrs. J.Q. Hargrave of Smithfield and Miss 
Virginia Dare McEnerney of Elberon and three sons - J.T. McEnerney of 
Smithfield and J.W. McEnerney and J.R. McEnerney of Elberon and fifteen 
grandchildren.

  Pallbearers were - Active, Robert Little, E.F. Little, James Morris, 
Charles Nurney, B.O. Gwaltney and Charles Little; honorary, G.A. Gwaltney, 
Robert Faison, Josiah Edwards, Raege Barlow, Samuel Thomas, Vernon Little, 
William Nurney, James Megarion, Edward Barlow, Edward Jones, George Little, 
Clarence Delk and Merit Delk.
