J.M. McGURIMAN Funeral services for Mrs. J.M. McGuriman, 61, who died Sunday at her home near Smithfield, were held at 11 a.m. Monday from the residence with the Rev. W.W. Norris and the Rev. E.W. Somerville officiating. Burial took place in Uzzell's cemetery. Mrs. McGuriman died at 4:50 a.m. Sunday. She had been a member of the Mill Swamp Baptist Church 15 years and prior to that a member of Uzzells Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband; three sons; Jack, Charles and Taylor Darden; five daughters; Mrs. M.T. Hundley, Misses Helen, Verna, Dorothy and Violet McGuriman, all of Isle of Wight County; mother, Mrs. L.A. Brantum and one sister, Mrs. A.H. Adams, Charlottesville. Active pallbearers were: Jim Wilson, Charlie Wilson, William Darden, Crawley Gale, Johnnie Edwards and Lester Warren. Honorary pallbearers were: W.S. Haverty, Frank Wrenn, Caleb Batten, Pat Haverty, John Cofer, John Godwin, Paul Godwin, James Dashiell, Morris Jones, Eddie Kitchen, Jim Gwaltney, Willie Cofer, Page Fitchett, Frank Wilson, Whit Crocker and Taylor Batten.
