All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CARR MUMFORD PROMINENT FARMER COMMITS SUICIDE Carr Mumford, age 62, prominent farmer of Isle of Wight County, took his own life Sunday morning by firing a pistol bullet through his head. Mr. Mumford was stricken with paralysis a year ago and since that time his suffered ill health which is believed to have caused his tragic death. He was at his home, about three miles from Zuni, when he died. He is survived by widow; three daughters, Mrs. David Darden, of Carrsville; Mrs. Ocie Bradshaw, of Zuni; Miss Eugenie Mumford of Zuni; one son, Arthur Mumford, of Zuni, and a brother, Moody Mumford*, of Southampton County. Funeral services were held Monday at the home, conducted by the Rev. Mr. King, of Windsor, and the Rev. Vernon L. Fisher, of Zuni. Interment was in the family cemetery.
