Herbert Elton Munford 

  Herbert Elton Munford, age 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 6. 1998.  A native of 
Isle of Wight County, he was retired in 1984 from Newport News Shipbuilding, 
Welding Dept.  Mr. Munford was a member of Isle of Wight Congregational 
Christian Church, a charter member of the Isle of Wight Ruritan Club and a 
past member of the Blackwater Masonic Lodge. Zuni.  He served as Game Warden 
in Isle of Wight County for 13 years.  Mr. Munford is preceded in death by 
his parents. Herbert Matthew and Annie Nelms Munford and his son, Herbert 
Matthew Munford II.  Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Edwards Munford; two 
daughters Ann Munford Murden of Portsmouth. Va. and Susan Munford Huber of 
Dover. Del; a sister, Delma M. Dillon of Staunton, Va. as well as 10 
[grand]children and three great-grandchildren.  A funeral service was 
conducted Saturday. Oct. 10. at 11 a.m. in Colonial Funeral Home with Rev. 
Jon Jalley officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to Isle of Wight
