M. Munford, Of Suffolk, Succumbs In Local Hospital At An Early Hour This Morning. Mrs. Sarah E. Munford, age 74, died at 1 o’clock this morning at a local hospital. She is survived by three sons, R.L. of Newport News, Matthew, of Isle of Wight, and W.W. Munford, of Suffolk; six daughters, Mrs. G.E. Uzzell, of Isle of Wight, Mrs. Frank Bangley, of Norfolk, Mrs. J.F. Chapman, of Isle of Wight, Mrs. E.L. Chapman, of Hopewell, Mrs. Ben Luter and Mrs. Lillian Spencer, both of Suffolk; and 22 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Antioch Church and will be conducted by the Rev. J.M. White. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Her father, Wm. Robert BRITT, served in the Isle of Wight Grays - Co. D, 16th VA Infantry, CSA. He d. 22 Jun 1862 at Chimborazo Hospital #4, Richmond, and was buried in nearby Oakwood Cemetery. Some records gave KIA 1 Jul 1862 at Malvern Hill, where many of his comrades fell.
