Mills Ross Minton, Sr. Died Friday After Short Illness 
             * * * 

  Mills Ross Minton, Sr., died at Newport News Hospital Friday night at 9 P.M. 
Mr. Minton fell as he entered a Newport News Church last week and suffered a 
cerebral hemorrhage when his head hit the steps.  He was a member of the 
Benn's Methodist Church for 60 years.  He was a member of the Board of 
Directors of the Smithfield Farmer's Inc., the Milk Producer's Association of 
Norfolk, the Isle of Wight County Welfare Board and President of the Tidewater 
Mutual Fire Insurance Association, Inc. 

  He is survived by one son, Mills Ross Minton Jr.; one daughter, Mrs. T.S. 
Saunders of Suffolk; one granddaughter, Mary Ainslee Saunders; one sister, 
Mrs. Frank Bunkley of Smithfield and a number of nieces and nephews. 

  The body was removed to the Jones Funeral Home and funeral services were 
held at the residence at 3:30 Sunday afternoon by his pastor, the Rev. Victor 
B. Anthony, III, assisted by the Rev. H.B. Owens.
