Rescue Woman Succumbs at 58 

  SMITHFIELD, July 11 - Mrs. Daviette Addison Martin, age 68, died at a 
Portsmouth hospital Monday after a long illness.  A native of Surry County, 
Mrs. Martin had lived in Rescue for the past 40 years, where she was an 
active member in Riverview Methodist Church.  She was the daughter of the 
late Charles and Gabriella Tynes Addison. 

  Besides her husband, Walter L. Martin, she is survived by two daughters, 
Mrs. Delma Richardson, of Eclipse, Mrs. Elizabeth Hughes, of Virginia Beach; 
one son, W.L. Martin, Jr., of Battery Park; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Ripley, of 
Portsmouth; two brothers, Charles and Wilson Addison, both of Surry C.H.; 
three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. 

  Funeral services wll be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at 
Riverview Methodist Church by Rev. Victor B. Anthony, pastor of Riverview 
church, assisted by Rev, J.L. Kibler, pastor of Crittenden Methodist Church. 

  Burial will be in St. Luke's cemetery at Benn's Church.  The body will be 
taken from Bullock Funeral Home in Smithfield at 2 p.m. to Riverview church 
where it will lie in state until the services at 3:30.
