[sic*] MARTIN Funeral services for Rufus E. Martin, World War veteran and son of Mrs. Sallie Martin Saunders and the late W.J.E. Martin, were conducted November 15th at Oakland Christian Church with Dr. I.W. Johnson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The choir of the church sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye", "Asleep in Jesus" and "Abide With Me", accompanied by Mrs. I.W. Johnson. The casket was covered with a pall of white chrysanthemums and red roses. Active pallbearers W.C. Martin, G.C. Griffin, Hinton Schramm, Alton Wagner, Thomas Saunders, Asa Johnson, Thomas Eley and G.L. Gwaltney. Honorary pallbearers were members of American Legion Post 57, in which Mr. Martin, who served overseas with the American forces, held membership.
