ULA GARLAND NELSON 

   SMITHFIELD - A funeral service for Ula Garland Nelson was held Sunday 
at 2 p.m. in St. Luke’s Memorial Park by the Rev. Macon Walton.  Colonial 
Funeral Home was in charge.

   Mrs. Nelson died last Tuesday in Hampton General Hospital.

   A native of Bluefield, she was the widow of J. Craig Nelson.  She was 
a graduate of Hollins College, a member of Christ Episcopal Church, the 
Smithfield Shakespeare Class, the Smithfield Woman’s Club and the Norfolk 
Poetry Society.

   Survivors include a sister, Effie G. Duff of Miami, Fla.; a brother, 
A.P. Garland of Albuquerque, N.M. and several nieces.
