Norfleet of our town, died at her home in South High Street Monday afternoon, June 20, following a sudden attack sustained at the supper table Saturday evening. Mrs. Norfleet, who was in her 46th year, had been in poor health for some time, and her passing is sincerely deplored by a large circle of friends here and elsewhere. She was a woman of many fine traits and a consecrated member of the Franklin Christian Church, a tireless worker in several of its organizations so long as her health permitted, and was highly esteemed and loved. In addition to her church work, she was a member of the Woman’s Club of Franklin and took a prominent part in many community activities. Among other attributes was her love for and success with flowers for which she was noted in the town, and there have been few funerals indeed in Franklin where flowers have been so numerous and beautiful as those sent by friends in this occasion to one who in life loved and understood them so well. Mrs. Norfleet was the oldest child of J.R. Howell of Franklin, her mother dying in 1915. On June 20, 1906, she married Walter H. Norfleet, her death occurring on the twenty-first anniversary of their wedding. Besides her husband she is survived by four children, Cora, Louise, Jack, and Walter Norfleet, Jr.; by her father; two brothers, Dr. Carroll S. Howell of Marion, S.C., and Marshall Howell of Tamps, Fla., and by two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Burchette of Suffolk and Mrs. Geo. R. Brown of Franklin. Funeral services were held from Franklin Christian Church Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock by Rev. F.C. Lester, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson of the Baptist Church. The choir sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Asleep in Jesus" and Joel Holland used as a solo "It is Well with My Soul." The church was crowded to capacity and a number were turned away. Interment followed in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the body bearers being: Geo. R. Brown, W.H. Burchette, L.B. Norfleet, J. Fenton Matthews, Roger I. Beale, W.H. Jones, F.E. Howell and Walter F. story. The honorary pallbearers were: W.C. Watson, F.F. Jenkins, J.E. Weede, Barclay Pretlow, Harry Steinhardt, G.G. McCann, G.G. Smith, R.A. Pretlow, J.O. Haslett, Dr. W.E. Snipes, Geo. R. Hayes, L.R.
