NORSWORTHY AUTO CRASH VICTIM W.R. Norsworthy Succumbs to Injuries Sustained Near Smithfield Funeral services for W.R. Norsworthy, 68*, of Carrollton, Isle of Wight County who died in the St. Vincent hospital at Norfolk, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from injuries received in an automobile accident near Smithfield around eleven o'clock Saturday night will be held Thursday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the St. Luke's Church at Benn's Church, Va. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Harry L. Brown, driver of Mr. Norsworthy's car when the accident occurred, is charge with operating an automobile under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, having no permit and involuntary manslaughter and is now in the county jail where he has been held since the accident occurred we are informed by Sheriff W.C. Whitehead. Mr. Norsworthy recently went on Harry L. Brown's bond as a friendly deed. Saturday night Brown agreed to surrender himself to Sheriff Whitehead so that Mr. Norsworthy might be released from obligation. At the Log Cabin Mr. Norsworthy picked up E.P Clark of Smithfield who was coming home from Norfolk. Brown was driving when their car collided near Pagan Pines Service Station outside of Smithfield with another owned and driven by George Bunch of Edenton, N.C., who had been visiting John Godwin at the Riddick Farm on the Smithfield-Suffolk Highway. In Mr. Bunch's car was John Godwin of the Riddick Farm who received cuts on face and back, James Purdy bruises and Clyde Bunch of Edenton who was bruised. Mr. Norsworthy was thrown to the pavement and struck his head on the pavement. Brown received minor cuts and bruises as did Mr. Clark. After the accident, Mr. Norsworthy was taken to his home but carried to St. Vincents Hospital later when his condition became serious. Mr. Norsworthy is survived by his wife Mrs. Phenie Bassett Norsworthy; two sons, Francis Norsworthy, of Carrollton and William R. Norsworthy, Jr. of Portlock; one brother, Arthur Norsworthy, of Battery Park and one sister. William R.
