ODEY, 50, BURIED ON SUNDAY Funeral services for Collins C. Odey, 50*, native of Isle of Wight County, were held at Woodland Methodist Church Cemetery Sunday, May 6th. Odey, who served as a private in World War I and for a number of years has been farming in Isle of Wight County, died in a Veterans Hospital in Gov. Oteen, N.C. April 30th at 5:15 p.m. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Addie Odey, of Baltimore; four sisters, Mrs. C.H. Crumpler of Smithfield; Mrs. Herbert Sadler of Battery Park, Mrs. L.P. White of Hopewell and Mrs. Clara Edwards, RFD, Windsor; one brother, Roscoe Odey, of Chuckatuck and one half brother, Bob Odey of Hopewell and one half sister, Mrs. Nealie Bradshaw of Chuckatuck. The record of his marriage to Addie Crocker, 28 May 1918, in Nansemond Co. also gives Collins. (Ancestry.com "Virginia Marriages") Addie's sister Lillian m. Collin's bro "Rosker"; they are buried in Newman Memorial Cemetery, Oakland Christian Church, Chuckatuck. Birthdate &c. from D.Cert. (8655 {Ashville #107}), which gives Collin, separated, sn/o Tom Odey & Deely [Odelia] Riddick, both b. Va. [Tom's 2m.rec. gives b. Hertford Co., NC.] His WW-II draft registration gives Collin Clandro Odey, 51 in 1942 - but birthdate given as 12 Apr 1881 [sic]. The D.Certs. of his father Thomas ODEY and step-mother Lizzie A. (HOLLAND) ODEY both state buried Woodland Church. They are apparently unmarked. Only his bro Robert appears on the cemetery list (IWCHS GSSTF #24). Nealie's 1st husband Lewis PARDEY was also buried there, unmarked.
